Hey there! My name’s Jenelle and I’m a linocut artist from Northern Michigan. I’m an anomaly: my natural hair color is green, I’m obsessed with nearly every movie released before the 1970s, and I find endless inspiration meandering through cemeteries on foggy mornings where you might find my body contorted in an attempt to perfectly capture the details of a miniature nature scene with my camera. I love rainbows and darkness in equal measure. Anything and everything sparks my creativity – from the beauty and decay of the natural world to the wonderfully weird realm of pop culture and surrealism.

The love of linocut entered stage left in the summer of ‘23 when I brought a box of pink erasers and a speedball tool on vacation, igniting a dormant spark that had taken a very long nap during the years spent raising my boys. As I began to fill boxes with custom carvings, handmade paper slithered in and now my linocuts are pressed on my own wonderfully imperfect home-recycled paper. My artistic flair is a wildly eclectic compound which you will see reflected in the wide range of subject matter in my available prints.

As I am still navigating the world of linocut, I’ve come to embrace the flaws and revel in the ordinary defects of art that make each work unique. Learning is a ceaseless adventure filled with triumphs and catastrophes–and a lot of humdrum in the middle. Let me show you the glimmers I’ve found in the chaos.
